WE WISH TO CONSTRUCT A EUSKAL HERRIA MADE UP OF CITIZENS.

The Hurbiltzen programme put forward, devoted to the twinning among municipalities of Euskal Herria. `We wish to construct a Euskal Herria made up of citizens´.

UDALBILTZA has this morning put forward its HURBILTZEN programme, devoted to promoting twinnings among the municipalities of Euskal Herria. Initial aid for this programme amounts to 150,000 euros. Around fifty mayors and councillors from throughout Euskal Herria have taken part in the act. Likewise, several agreements have been signed with Artea, Asteasu, Bakio, Beasain, Lekunberri, Deba, Ordizia, Lazkao, Getxo, Azkaine, Kanbo, Lesaka and Oion, whereby UDALBILTZA has provided an initial funding of 2,000 euros to each municipality, in addition to technical and professional support in order to carry out said twinnings.


In the course of the act, Jesus Mari AGIRREZABALA, mayor of Deba and Vice-Chairman of UDALBILTZA, has spoken in Euskera, Jose Luis ETXEGARAY, mayor of Lesaka and member of the Executive Board of UDALBILTZA in Spanish and Ramuntxo Camblong, town councillor of Angelu and member of the Executive Board of UDALBILTZA in French. Likewise, the mayor of Getxo, Iñaki ZARRAOA has appeared to encourage all the municipalities of Euskal Herria to take part in the HURBILTZEN programme.
