Udalbiltza opens an account for receiving contributions in favour of Nafarroa Oinez

First payment of 6,000 euros on the part of Udalbiltza. The money raised will be added to the 180,300 euros already donated by Udalbiltza for the ikastola of Irunberri-Lumbier.

UDALBILTZA has decided to open a current account with the aim of exclusively receiving contributions that the town halls of Euskal Herria wish to make in favour of Nafarroa Oinez 2003 and the ikastola of Irunberri-Lumbier. The current account has been opened in the Caja Laboral Popular- Euskadiko Kutxa bank and its number is:

UDALBILTZA is very pleased with the entire movement of solidarity expressed by citizens, associations and institutions of all type who have given rise to the need for an ikastola in good condition in Irunberri-Lumbier, this precisely having been the aim of this year’s Nafarroa Oinez and which, as we know, had to be cancelled due to adverse weather.

UDALBILTZA has already made an initial payment into this current account of 6,000 euros and is sure that the town halls of Euskal Herria will respond appropriately and in proportion to the needs of the new ikastola of Irunberri-Lumbier, thus making this project viable.

UDALBILTZA recalls that the money raised in this account will be added to the 180,300 euros (30,000,000 former pesetas) already donated to Nafarroa Oinez 2003 by this municipal institution on the 11th of October, by the signing of an agreement with the Arangoiti Ikastola of Irunberri-Lumbier and the Federation of Ikastolas of Navarra.

UDALBILTZA wishes to stress that the Arangoiti Ikastola of Irunberri-Lumbier was set up at the beginning of the 1980s and that the buildings currently housing it are in poor condition, with leaks, poor heating and damp. Despite all this, UDALBILTZA wishes to draw attention to the fact that the parents of Irunberri-Lumbier have mostly opted to send their sons and daughters to study at the ikastola. Thus, of around 130 boys and girls who live in Irunberri-Lumbier, about 90 are studying at the Arangoiti Ikastola. In the opinion of UDALBILTZA, this all goes to show that Euskera is a synonym of quality, good teaching and the expansion of future professional opportunities for our children.

Lastly, UDALBILTZA wishes to congratulate the Arangoiti Ikastola of Irunberri-Lumbier for its tenacity, its love of Euskera and all the efforts being made to obtain a quality education in Euskera for its children.
